Former Love Island champion Jack Fincham has made a heartbreaking public appeal, revealing he is spiralling due to drink and drug use and desperately needs rehabilitation, but fears he cannot afford it. The 33-year-old reality star, who won the ITV dating show eight years ago alongside ex-partner Dani Dyer, admitted that the financial gains from his television fame have long since vanished, leaving him in a precarious position.

In a candid and raw interview, Fincham detailed the sharp downturn in his life, contrasting his former peak with his current struggles. “I was on top of the world after Love Island but my life has turned into a rollercoaster,” Fincham stated. He disclosed that his relapse began heavily just weeks before Christmas, leading to a situation where professional help is now paramount.

Financial Strain Hinders Recovery

The stark reality of his financial situation was laid bare when Fincham displayed the contents of his wallet. “I need rehab but the Love Island millions have gone, I can’t afford it,” he confessed, pulling out a single £20 note. “I’ve got this in my pocket and nothing in the bank.”

Fincham has prior experience with recovery, having attended rehab four years ago following his reality TV success. However, he now realises that his mindset upon leaving that initial stint was flawed. “I spent thousands doing it but I didn’t truly believe I had a problem. So I came out with the same mindset,” he explained.

A few months ago, Fincham believed he had regained control, attempting to reintroduce alcohol into his life. This decision quickly proved catastrophic. “But it spiralled. Since then I have done drugs, I have done laughing gas. I have been so drunk that I’ve kissed a woman over Christmas and don’t even remember doing it. I am embarrassed, mortified… of course I am. I feel like an idiot. I am a 33-year-old man. I should be settled down, married.”

The Vicious Cycle of Relapse

Fincham’s account paints a vivid picture of a destructive pattern. He recounted a recent evening out in a South East London pub where one drink quickly escalated. “As soon as I had one I was up on the bar dancing, then it was the sambucas and tequila. I don’t even like tequila,” he recalled.

The situation quickly deteriorated beyond social drinking. Fincham admitted to buying BuzzBallz—high-strength alcoholic beverages—alone, often trying to combat insomnia with pills he found. “I have been addicted to sleeping pills in the past too,” he noted. The desperation led him to discover diazepam in an old coat pocket, further entrenching the cycle.

Influence and the Need for Tools

The use of nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, was another element Fincham expressed deep shame over. Describing the behaviour as akin to that of a “stupid kid” taking balloons in the back of cars, he acknowledged a significant character flaw that contributes to his vulnerability.

“I am easily influenced, which is ridiculous to admit, but I am,” Fincham conceded. This susceptibility is precisely why he feels a second, more committed stint in rehab is necessary. “That’s why I need rehab. I need the tools so I can say, ‘No, that’s not for me. I can’t do that’.”

Relationship Dynamics and Public Scrutiny

Fincham’s personal life has often remained under the public microscope, particularly his six-year, on-off relationship with Towie star Chloe Brockett. While he preferred not to elaborate on their current status, he did confirm a recent rumour involving another reality television personality.

He acknowledged kissing Married At First Sight UK star Leisha Lightbody during a festive outing at the Tulleys Christmas Light Festival in West Sussex. These public moments, coupled with his internal struggles, add intense pressure to his recovery journey.

Fincham’s revelation serves as a stark reminder of the pressures faced by reality television personalities once the initial spotlight fades. While his career launched him into fame and fortune, the subsequent years have led to a profound personal crisis that he is now bravely confronting, despite the daunting financial hurdles standing in the way of the professional help he believes he requires.
