The rings disappeared "as they were dying." Mystery baffles British police

A British family was surprised that an elderly woman belonging to her had been robbed while she was in hospital where she died.
Sky News reported on Sunday that the incident occurred last month in the eastern British province of Essex.

The woman, who was in her 80s, was admitted to Broomfield Hospital in the province on June 6 and died nine days later.

As the family members faced the pain of their cousin's separation, they were surprised that their wedding rings had disappeared from her fingers, one golden and the other made of diamonds.

British police said the rings were not removed during treatment, yet they were unable to find them or explain why they disappeared.

A police spokesman said: "The rings were of emotional value and the family was in an understanding state of amazement."

"The rings were the happiest time in the lady's life, but those memories were taken away from her."
